How we approach a Kia

Kia interiors work harder than most. A Telluride or Carnival in Katy is often doing two school runs, a soccer practice and a Costco trip in one day, and the cabin shows it: crushed snacks in the captain's chair tracks, juice in the third-row cupholders and sand in the sliding-door channels. We start with compressed air in the seat tracks and door channels, because that is where the grit lives, then works through each row in turn. SynTex synthetic leather gets a gentle cleaner and a matte protectant; it does not need conditioning and goes shiny if it is over-dressed. Nappa on the top Telluride and Carnival trims is treated as real leather. Cloth in Fortes, Souls and Sportages is spot-treated, with extraction quoted if spills have soaked in over a hot summer. The curved screens and glossy touch panels on newer Kias are cleaned with a screen-safe product and their own cloth. The interior detail is fully mobile, at your home or office.

Kia paint

Kia paint is on the thin side and fairly soft, much like Hyundai's. It responds well to a light polish, but it also marrs quickly in automatic washes. Black, Gravity Gray and the darker greens and blues show it most.
