How we approach a Hyundai

Interior detail is the service Hyundai owners book most, because these cars are driven hard and kept a long time. The first job is working out what the seats actually are: cloth on SE and SEL trims, synthetic leather on some mid trims, leather-trimmed seats on Limited and Calligraphy. Cloth is spot-treated on every visit, and an Elantra or Tucson with a few summers of spilled coffee and sports drinks usually needs the shampoo extraction add-on. Synthetic seats get a gentle cleaner and a matte protectant rather than conditioner. Newer Hyundais carry a lot of piano-black around the shifter and screens that scratches with a dry paper towel, so it is cleaned with plush microfiber only. On a Palisade or the newer Santa Fe the third row, the captain's chair tracks and the cargo well are all included, and so is the sliding center console on an Ioniq 5, whose rails catch crumbs. Everything is done mobile, in your driveway or office lot.

Hyundai paint is fairly thin and soft by most detailers' measure. It polishes quickly, which is good news for swirls, but there is less clear coat to spend, so depth is checked before any machine work. White and silver hide wear; black, blue and red show it.
