Paint and exterior

A long, smooth body with a rounded tail and very little chrome. The roof is high and long, so it takes a step stool and patience, and the pixel lights front and rear sit in plastic that scratches if it is wiped dry.

Interior

A flat floor through all three rows, second-row captain's chairs or a bench, and a sliding center console. Light interiors and synthetic leather are common, and the third row and cargo floor gather sand and crumbs on every trip.

Living in Houston

New Ioniq 9s in Bridgeland and Cypress subdivisions are still parked near construction, and the dust settles on the long roof and in the door sills. Coating early saves washing time later.

• Third row and cargo area: both are included, which is why three-row vehicles sit in the larger size class.
• Family hauler: car-seat areas, cupholders and seat rails hold the most crumbs; pet hair is an add-on quoted on the call.
• Synthetic leather: it does not need conditioner, just a gentle cleaner and a matte protectant so it does not go shiny.
• Large glass roof: Houston water leaves mineral spots on it, so it is cleaned inside and out and suits the glass coating add-on.
• Electric: there is no engine bay, but the frunk, charge port door and underbody plastics get cleaned, and washing an EV is completely safe.
