How we approach a Ferrari

A Ferrari is usually coated for a different reason than a daily driver. It may cover only a few thousand miles a year, but it sits under a cover or in a garage where dust settles on the paint, and every wipe-down with a quick detailer adds fine marring, most visible on Rosso Corsa and black. A coating lets that dust lift off with a rinse or a gentle rinseless wash, and it keeps bug residue from bonding after a run out to the Hill Country. Most cars already wear PPF on the nose, mirrors and rockers, so the film is coated as well, with its edges cleaned first. Exposed carbon is checked for gloss or satin weave before anything goes on it, and satin carbon gets a matte-safe product. Wheel faces are coated in the same visit, and with the wheels-off add-on the barrels too, where brake dust collects. The five-to-seven-year coating is applied at the shop in Katy after correction; a newer car with good paint can have the two-year coating in its own garage.
