The Passat is the midsize VW many Houston families drove for years, and the Tennessee-built cars from 2012 on are still common used sedans.

The later cars are long, conservative sedans with chrome strips on the bumpers and around the side windows, and hard water etches that chrome. Big trunk lids and hoods show swirls on black and dark blue.
Interior
V-Tex or leather on most, cloth on base cars, and a huge rear seat with plenty of floor to vacuum. The big trunk tends to collect sports gear and the grit that comes with it.
Living in Houston
Passats used for long commutes and road trips to Austin or San Antonio come back with bugs on the front end and road tar on the rocker panels. Older ones parked outside fade on the roof.
- Hard clear coat: swirls take more cutting to remove, so correction is slower, but a corrected finish holds up well afterwards.
- Lots of chrome: Houston hard water etches it, so it is dried fully, polished where needed and sealed.
- Older plastic headlights yellow in the sun: headlight restoration is an add-on worth asking about.
