Long hood and a short deck where the roof folds away. Silver, black and red are classic SL colors, and the seams around the rear deck collect water and pollen.
Interior
Leather on every generation, often light colors, with neck-level heating vents on recent cars and plenty of chrome and aluminum trim. The seats take direct sun with the top down and need conditioning more often.
Living in Houston
Top-down evenings in spring and fall are what SL owners in Sugar Land and The Woodlands buy it for. In summer the roof stays up and cabin heat dries out the leather.
- Removable roof panels or soft top: drains and seals are cleaned, and soft tops and vinyl windows get their own cleaner.
- Hard clear coat: swirls take more cutting to remove, so correction is slower, but a corrected finish holds up well afterwards.
- Light-colored seats are popular: denim dye transfer and sunscreen stains are cleaned early, before they set in the heat.
- Lots of chrome: Houston hard water etches it, so it is dried fully, polished where needed and sealed.
