Paint and exterior
Small, light panels with a lot of plastic bumper area. Many surviving Focuses have faded red or blue paint and dull clear on the roof. The ST and RS hatches wear busier bumpers and spoilers with many small openings to clean.
Interior
Cloth seats in most, leather on Titanium and Recaro sport seats on ST and RS. Hard plastic dashes on older cars crack in the heat, and the door armrests wear through.
Living in Houston
Often a college commuter or a second car parked outside every day. The rear window and trunk lid collect pine pollen and oak catkins in spring, and the sun bakes the rear parcel shelf.
- Cloth seats on many trims: spot-treated in every interior detail, with shampoo extraction as an add-on when they need it.
- Older plastic headlights yellow in the sun: headlight restoration is an add-on worth asking about.
- Unpainted textured trim: it fades grey in the sun, so it is cleaned and dressed with a matte UV protectant.
