Paint and interior on the GLS

Paint and exterior

A very large, tall body with lots of chrome trim. The Maybach GLS often wears two-tone paint with a contrasting lower body and has lit running boards that deploy when the doors open.

Interior

Three rows in leather or Nappa, captain's chairs on many cars, and a Maybach rear with reclining seats and a fridge between them. Third-row seat backs and cargo-area trim scuff easily.

Living in Houston

In Katy and Sugar Land a GLS is often the big family car for every school run and road trip; the roof is high enough that pollen and bird droppings sit up there unseen for days.

• Third row and cargo area: both are included, which is why three-row vehicles sit in the larger size class.
• Lots of chrome: Houston hard water etches it, so it is dried fully, polished where needed and sealed.
• Family hauler: car-seat areas, cupholders and seat rails hold the most crumbs; pet hair is an add-on quoted on the call.
• Light-colored seats are popular: denim dye transfer and sunscreen stains are cleaned early, before they set in the heat.
• Large wheels and tall tires: wheel faces, barrels and wells take real time on this one, and it shows when they are done right.
• Black and dark colors are common: they show swirls, water spots and pollen film first, and benefit most from a coating.
