Paint and interior on the Titan

Paint and exterior

Lots of chrome on earlier trucks and a big chrome grille on the second generation. Hard water etches it, and dark paint on the hood and roof oxidizes after years parked outside.

Interior

Cloth or leather, a big center console and wide flat surfaces. Crew cab rear floors hold mud and tools, and leather on the upper trims dries out in the heat without regular conditioning.

Living in Houston

Titans used on ranch land in Fort Bend County or towing trailers to the coast collect tar, salt and mud on the lower doors and around the hitch.

• Pickup bed: tell us what the bed carries; spray-in liners clean up well, drop-in liners come out for the rinse.
• Tows and hauls: hitch, rear bumper and the lower panels collect road tar and brake dust, so they get iron remover and tar remover.
• Lots of chrome: Houston hard water etches it, so it is dried fully, polished where needed and sealed.
• Sees dirt roads and lease land: mud is softened and rinsed before any mitt touches the paint, and wheel wells are cleaned out.
