Paint and interior on the Corvette

Paint and exterior

Long, low panels made of composite rather than steel, with a clear coat that polishes like normal paint. Dark colors and red show swirls, and many owners add clear film to the nose and rockers.

Interior

Leather or synthetic sport seats, with microsuede on some steering wheels. The C8 has a long ridge of climate buttons along the console that collects dust between the keys.

Living in Houston

Covered in the garage most of the week and taken out on dry weekends; love bug season is when owners call first. The low nose meets steep driveway lips in older Katy neighborhoods.

• Removable roof panels or soft top: drains and seals are cleaned, and soft tops and vinyl windows get their own cleaner.
• Low front splitter: we work on level ground and keeps equipment clear of the nose.
• Often wears PPF or a wrap: film edges get a coating-safe wash, no clay on the film, and the film can be ceramic coated too.
• Exposed carbon fiber: clear-coated carbon is polished like paint; satin carbon is cleaned and protected, never polished.
• Black and dark colors are common: they show swirls, water spots and pollen film first, and benefit most from a coating.
