Paint and exterior
Early trucks have thick grey plastic cladding along the sides, which fades badly. Later ones are body-colored. The three-piece hard bed cover keeps the bed dry but traps dirt in its seals.
Interior
Cloth or leather benches and captain's chairs, with the midgate and removable rear glass letting the bed open into the cab. Seals around the midgate collect grit.
Living in Houston
Mostly second and third-owner trucks used for tailgating at NRG, weekend projects and the occasional boat. Sun damage on the dash and cladding is the common complaint.
- Pickup bed: tell us what the bed carries; spray-in liners clean up well, drop-in liners come out for the rinse.
- Unpainted textured trim: it fades grey in the sun, so it is cleaned and dressed with a matte UV protectant.
- Older plastic headlights yellow in the sun: headlight restoration is an add-on worth asking about.
- Tows and hauls: hitch, rear bumper and the lower panels collect road tar and brake dust, so they get iron remover and tar remover.
