Wool-blend and suedecloth options alongside leather, and two glossy touchscreens on earlier cars. The haptic controls and gloss surfaces show every fingerprint, the two rotary dials on the lower screen collect hand oil, and pale seats show dye transfer.

A Velar on a daily commute from Cypress sees sun on the long hood and dust from construction along US 290. The flush handles collect grime that needs a gentle brush.

• Black and dark colors are common: they show swirls, water spots and pollen film first, and benefit most from a coating.
• Piano-black trim: it scratches if you look at it, so it gets plush microfiber only and can be polished and coated.
• Large touchscreens: cleaned with a screen-safe, ammonia-free product and a dedicated cloth.
• Often wears PPF or a wrap: film edges get a coating-safe wash, no clay on the film, and the film can be ceramic coated too.
