Paint and exterior

Wide hips and long doors make the rear quarters the first place swirls show. Austin Yellow launched the first generation and Isle of Man Green the second, and Frozen matte colors appear on some Competition cars.

Interior

Merino leather in bright two-tones such as Kyalami Orange, carbon bucket seats with cutouts that hold dust and crumbs, and carbon cabin trim that is cleaned dry with a soft cloth.

Living in Houston

An M4 convertible on a cool March evening in Sugar Land is the ideal use. In July it stays covered, and bug strikes in the deep front intakes need careful brushing.

• Hard clear coat: swirls take more cutting to remove, so correction is slower, but a corrected finish holds up well afterwards.
• Exposed carbon fiber: clear-coated carbon is polished like paint; satin carbon is cleaned and protected, never polished.
• Factory matte or satin paint is offered: it is never polished or waxed; it gets matte-safe soap and a matte-specific sealant or coating.
• Often wears PPF or a wrap: film edges get a coating-safe wash, no clay on the film, and the film can be ceramic coated too.
• Low front splitter: we work on level ground and keeps equipment clear of the nose.
