Paint and interior on the M2

Paint and exterior

A short, wide body with flared fenders and a deep front bumper that collects rubber and bug strikes. Long Beach Blue on the first car and Zandvoort Blue on the second are signature colors, and many owners film the nose.

Interior

M seats in Merino or Vernasca, optional carbon bucket seats on the second generation whose high bolsters wear quickly from climbing in and out, and Alcantara on some steering wheels that goes matted with hand oils.

Living in Houston

After a track day an M2 has tire rubber and brake dust caked on the lower panels, and the low nose scrapes on steep driveways in older parts of Katy.

• Hard clear coat: swirls take more cutting to remove, so correction is slower, but a corrected finish holds up well afterwards.
• Often wears PPF or a wrap: film edges get a coating-safe wash, no clay on the film, and the film can be ceramic coated too.
• Exposed carbon fiber: clear-coated carbon is polished like paint; satin carbon is cleaned and protected, never polished.
• Low front splitter: we work on level ground and keeps equipment clear of the nose.
• Alcantara or microsuede: brushed dry, cleaned with a dedicated cleaner on a towel (never sprayed directly), then re-napped.
