Paint and interior on the F-Pace

Paint and exterior

A long hood, short rear overhang and big wheels. The wide flat hood takes chips and bug strikes, and the gloss black lower trim on R-Dynamic cars swirls easily. SVR versions add hood vents that trap dust and wax residue.

Interior

Leather or Luxtec seats, a deep center console and, on newer cars, a curved touchscreen. Pre-2021 cars have the rising rotary selector and more hard plastic, and the rear seat cushions show car seat dents.

Living in Houston

F-Pace owners in Katy and Cypress use it like any family SUV: school runs, H-E-B lots and the odd day trip to Galveston, which leaves salt on the paint and sand in the carpets.

• Black and dark colors are common: they show swirls, water spots and pollen film first, and benefit most from a coating.
• Piano-black trim: it scratches if you look at it, so it gets plush microfiber only and can be polished and coated.
• Family hauler: car-seat areas, cupholders and seat rails hold the most crumbs; pet hair is an add-on quoted on the call.
• Large wheels and tall tires: wheel faces, barrels and wells take real time on this one, and it shows when they are done right.
• Large glass roof: Houston water leaves mineral spots on it, so it is cleaned inside and out and suits the glass coating add-on.
