Paint and exterior
The large closed grille is a sensor panel and is cleaned gently by hand. Washer fluid goes in behind the front roundel, so the hood stays shut. Dark blues and greys are common, and matte finishes were offered.
Interior
Leather tanned with olive-leaf extract or a wool-blend microfiber, open-pore wood around a crystal control panel, and a six-sided steering wheel. The flat floor has no center tunnel, so crumbs travel everywhere.
Living in Houston
Around The Woodlands and Katy the iX is often the family EV, so the cabin sees school bags and sports gear, and the roof and grille need attention after spring pollen.
- Electric: there is no engine bay, but the frunk, charge port door and underbody plastics get cleaned, and washing an EV is completely safe.
- Large glass roof: Houston water leaves mineral spots on it, so it is cleaned inside and out and suits the glass coating add-on.
- Family hauler: car-seat areas, cupholders and seat rails hold the most crumbs; pet hair is an add-on quoted on the call.
- Large touchscreens: cleaned with a screen-safe, ammonia-free product and a dedicated cloth.
- Factory matte or satin paint is offered: it is never polished or waxed; it gets matte-safe soap and a matte-specific sealant or coating.
