Aston Martin DBS / DBS Superleggera detailing in Houston

What we watch for

Paint and interior on the DBS / DBS Superleggera

Paint and exterior

Carbon hood vents, front splitter and side sills are common, in gloss or satin weave. The long hood takes most of the bug strikes and needs PPF on a car that is driven.

Interior

Leather with contrast stitching, carbon trim and, on the Superleggera, a Mercedes-derived screen. Older DBS cabins have soft leathers that need careful conditioning, and the seat bolsters scuff from getting in and out.

Living in Houston

A DBS kept as a weekend car here is usually garaged and filmed, but its long hood still needs regular washing after spring drives through the pine pollen around The Woodlands.

• Exposed carbon fiber: clear-coated carbon is polished like paint; satin carbon is cleaned and protected, never polished.
• Semi-aniline or aniline leather: minimal moisture, no all-purpose cleaners, and a test spot before anything else touches it.
• Often wears PPF or a wrap: film edges get a coating-safe wash, no clay on the film, and the film can be ceramic coated too.
• Black and dark colors are common: they show swirls, water spots and pollen film first, and benefit most from a coating.
