Paint and exterior
Black plastic cladding wraps the wheel arches and lower body, and a black roof is common. The front panel is gloss black and scratches easily, and the smooth body panels show wash swirls on darker colors.
Interior
Cloth or synthetic leather, with a wide dash and a gauge cluster set high above a small steering wheel. The flat floor and open lower console collect bags, dust and dropped fries.
Living in Houston
A Solterra parked all day at a Sugar Land office lot gets a hot glass roof, a baking cabin and black cladding that fades in the sun without a UV dressing.
- Electric: there is no engine bay, but the frunk, charge port door and underbody plastics get cleaned, and washing an EV is completely safe.
- Unpainted textured trim: it fades grey in the sun, so it is cleaned and dressed with a matte UV protectant.
- Large glass roof: Houston water leaves mineral spots on it, so it is cleaned inside and out and suits the glass coating add-on.
- Synthetic leather: it does not need conditioner, just a gentle cleaner and a matte protectant so it does not go shiny.
