Paint and exterior

A sloping roof and long hood with a large glossy grille and slim lights. Black, white and dark blue are common. The plug-in Grand Touring adds a charge-port door on the front fender that collects dust.

Interior

Leather on every current trim, with softer hides and real wood on the Black Label. Massaging front seats on upper trims, and a second row that holds spills from kids or car service passengers.

Living in Houston

Popular in The Woodlands and Katy as a slightly smaller alternative to the Navigator. A white interior in July needs attention within weeks of a new pair of jeans.

• Black and dark colors are common: they show swirls, water spots and pollen film first, and benefit most from a coating.
• Third row and cargo area: both are included, which is why three-row vehicles sit in the larger size class.
• Light-colored seats are popular: denim dye transfer and sunscreen stains are cleaned early, before they set in the heat.
• Large touchscreens: cleaned with a screen-safe, ammonia-free product and a dedicated cloth.
