Paint and exterior

Long clamshell hoods, deep stripes on many cars and very low noses that pick up rock chips. Many owners have PPF on the front end, and the hood vents and side gills collect wax residue.

Interior

Early cars are basic: hard plastics and simple leather. The fifth generation brought much nicer leather and optional performance seats. The sills are wide and scuff from shoes climbing in and out.

Living in Houston

Garage-kept Vipers still get dusty and dry out inside in the summer heat. On cars with side-exit exhaust, the rocker panels collect soot that should come off before it bakes on.

• Low front splitter: we work on level ground and keeps equipment clear of the nose.
• Often wears PPF or a wrap: film edges get a coating-safe wash, no clay on the film, and the film can be ceramic coated too.
• Exposed carbon fiber: clear-coated carbon is polished like paint; satin carbon is cleaned and protected, never polished.
• Black and dark colors are common: they show swirls, water spots and pollen film first, and benefit most from a coating.
