Paint and exterior
Black, white and gray are common, with chrome trim on early cars and darker trim on later A-Spec cars. Small, low panels are quick to polish, but the soft clear swirls quickly at gas-station washes.
Interior
Leatherette or leather, with red accents and Ultrasuede-style inserts on some A-Spec trims. The gloss trim around the two screens collects fingerprints, and the small trunk opening traps grit in its seal.
Living in Houston
Many ILXs sit in student lots at Rice and UH or in apartment garages near the Medical Center, so dust, pollen and parking-deck drips build up between washes.
- Piano-black trim: it scratches if you look at it, so it gets plush microfiber only and can be polished and coated.
- Soft clear coat: it marks from a dirty towel or an automatic wash, so every wash is two-bucket with clean mitts, and polishing finishes down with a fine pad.
